- It sounds like your Blizzard 1230-IV board is either buggy or
- improperly designed. It's a requirement on the Amiga for 68030 devices
- to provide proper cache management hardware, such that data caching is
- disabled for [at least] Chip RAM and the normal I/O spaces in memory,
- and data selects are properly generated (where applicable) for any
- cachable address.
-
- If this is not done, data caching won't work right, and what you're
- seeing is the common result. Like I said, it could be that the
- Blizzard isn't designed properly (I don't know it specifically; there
- have been such cards before, some provide MMU tools that can work
- around the problem).

-
- The problem with data caching of Chip RAM is that modifications to
- Chip RAM made by the blitter can be hidden to the CPU, in cache. This
- is common with font manipulation, though the OS uses the CPU
- exclusively for certain small font operations, expecially with 8x8
- fonts (the equivalent of the FastFonts hack under 1.3 was long ago
- made part of the OS -- the blitter is only faster then the CPU with a
- complex enough operation).

- Contact the manufacturer for the straight dope.
